Liberation Theology and Health Empowerment

  • 22 Steps

About

The Certification in Liberation Theology and Health Empowerment explores the historic and contemporary role of spirituality in movements for justice, health sovereignty, and survival among oppressed peoples. Students will critically examine how colonialism disrupted indigenous spiritual systems and how communities have reclaimed spiritual and healing practices as acts of liberation. Through case studies, discussion, reflection, and practical application, students will deepen their understanding of how faith-based resistance movements have advanced health equity and human dignity. Topics include the foundations of liberation theology, spirituality as survival, the intersection of health and faith, and developing empowerment-based healing frameworks. By the end of the course, students will design a Liberation Health Framework that they can apply in their work, activism, or healing practice.
