Understanding the education you will receive

HPOC University offers education rooted in metaphysical science, holistic health, spiritual study, and culturally grounded healing traditions. We want every prospective student to understand what our programs award, how accreditation works, and what a degree may or may not allow them to do professionally before enrolling.

Accreditation and recognition

In the United States, the Department of Education does not directly accredit any college or program. Accreditation is conducted by accrediting organizations; the Department recognizes certain accrediting agencies for federal higher education purposes. A school’s religious or spiritual focus does not, by itself, answer whether its accreditation is recognized by the Department.

HPOC University’s accreditation status

 

HPOC has chosen to be accredited by agencies who have the cultural and ancestral capacity to do so. We, therefore, relinquished accreditation from institutions who particpate in the colonization of our ancestral healing practices. We subscribe to Black holistic excellence that requires we create our own standards, systems, and soverneignty. For that reason we are seeking accredtition through UCBHP -United Council of BIPOC Holistic Practitioners; a Black owned and operated accreditation agency.

Degrees and spiritual designations

Students who complete an HPOC University degree receive the degree specified for their program. HPOC University also describes a Metaphysical Minister designation associated with its degrees. Before enrolling, students should review their program information to understand the precise degree title, the organization that awards any accompanying ministerial credential, and any requirements for maintaining that credential. These are spiritually educational credentials. They should be represented accurately when used in a professional biography or practice.

Professional scope and licensure

An HPOC University degree or spiritual designation does not, by itself, grant a state professional license. It does not authorize someone to practice medicine, diagnose or treat medical conditions, prescribe medication, or provide a regulated service such as licensed professional counseling unless that person separately holds the license required where they practice.

Rules vary by profession and location. If your goal is a licensed career, eligibility for a particular job, or admission to another institution, check directly with the relevant licensing board, employer, or school before enrolling. Some licensing boards, employers, and institutions require degrees from schools accredited by agencies they recognize.
